Sara J. Cobb
QMHP
Introduction: Welcome, I'm Sara! I'm pursuing a Master's degree in Counseling at Northwest Nazarene University (NNU), specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on Grief, Trauma, and Crisis. My professional journey spans the fields of communications, massage therapy, and public library reference, all of which contribute to my unique approach to counseling.
Â
About Me: As a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) I prioritize empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard in my holistic and humanistic approach to counseling. I am dedicated to creating a secure and nurturing environment where you can explore your emotions, discover your identity and abilities, and gain insights that foster personal growth. My goal is to provide safety, support, advocacy, and collaborate with you to achieve your aspirations. I take joy in connecting with clients about the beliefs, experiences, and systems that shape their unique identities. My experience includes working with adults, college students, and groups.
I am passionate about promoting suicide prevention and mental health awareness. My work focuses on fostering open conversations to reduce judgment and stigma. I am also committed to offering resources and support for those navigating the complexities of grief and loss.
Â
My experience includes facilitating grief support groups, conducting psychoeducational webinars for domestic violence offenders, providing individual counseling and crisis intervention, and managing office operations at a counseling agency. My background in the public library system has honed my skills in reference services, program organization, and community engagement. I am dedicated to continuous learning and professional development.
Â
Outside of the counseling office, I enjoy going on long walks with friends, working on cross-stitch or art projects, playing Block Cube and word games, binge-watching TV shows, going to the movies, reading and listening to books, keeping up with my favorite podcasts, researching my family's genealogy, and rummaging through thrift stores for hidden gems.
